Most of the current design and manufacturing processes for automotive components lack flexibility and require a long time to get a physical part from CAD sketches. Moreover, they present a series of limitations in geometry, which translates into inefficiencies.
BlueThink carried out a Technology Scouting project to increase the strength of additive manufactured structural components. Starting from the required performances, the team scouted different powders and combined them with specific process settings, as well as heating treatments.
This innovative approach overcomes many constraints that are typical of the current processes, as well as it speeds up the design and manufacturing of parts. This translates into shorter development loops, optimized components and lower development and production costs.
